james mcgraghan joined the ranks of dedicated NE water photogs last week with his new housing, and already he has been pumping out some great shots. look out for a dark shape and a yellow housing, it's jaaammmeeess!

at easterns...

at easterns i met a really cool kid named josh richardson. he surfs the longerboards with traditional style and newshcool tricks. he surfs in georgia. his town has two spots, a pointbreak and a beachbreak. we surfed a magical heat together on the best day of the contest. he beat me, but the waves were killer, so it doesn't matter. he ended up second, and beat out the "performance" longboarders in chest to head high barrels. i got fifth, and i was happy to lose to a kid like josh. the logging world should look out for this kid, he kills it.

the molly surf celebration

this weekend, a really great event went down at 10th street in hampton, the molly surf celebration. a fundraiser for the Molly Fund, a foundation supporting children with cancer in memory of Molly Rowlee, who passed away at age five of anaplastic large cell lymphoma, the event was contest mandatory, and the competitors were forced to ride 60s logs and some messed up boards. this event is all in the spirit of having a good time and enjoying the ocean, as everyone at the event did. huge shout out to Buck Rowlee for running the show, and any support that can be given to the Molly Fund is going to a great cause.

ep. 1 SEASICK

finally getting some waves means a chance to film again. this is the first of two shorts which originated from a long saturday in ri. chad bruce, tim healy, and chuck barend enjoying some bumps.

the first lord board

this weekend, we had the pleasure to shape our first board, which was modeled after the "Lord Boards" ridden by the likes of ryan burch and other fans of planing and going really fast. shaped out of $20 pink insulation and no glass due to laziness, shaping this thing was one of the easiest and most rewarding things ever, stoked to ride it!

flat spell fun

LOG DAYZ

some mystery long period swell graced our shores for an evening or two recently. this was an unbelieveable session in the evening with dennis granigan on some classic logging waves. big shout out to alan bruce who filmed for an hour while watching these waves!

summertime shred at nantasket, which has been pumping out punchy peaks on a consistent basis. water's warm and the surf's good, get on it!

some big lumpy windchop lumps got some cleanup inside a protected cove for a quick session.

oceanic oddities

one of the many joys of surfing is finding some odd waves to have fun on. case in point; this session way up north with tim healy, steve hassett and chad bruce on some weird and wacky wedges.

luminate 2.0

after years of plotting, luminate owner dan hassett has finally gone ahead and opened a shop in hull. come check it out on june 2nd for the grand opening, and it's going to be a great summer with luminate in on the fun in hull! get stoked!

finally returns home for an extended period of time. got a chance to surf with him on his second day back in fun RI waves. looking forward to shredding with tim all summer and into next year, look out for him in the water!

after chatting with the returned californian tim healy, we remembered this clip from last summer. classic.

             9 days of waist- chest high surf, and it's still coming! hats off to one of the most fun weeks ever!

despite conditions that looked like this for most of the contest

the new england contingency put out a ridiculous showing at the ESA northeast regionals this past weekend. this contest is the qualifier for the ESA easterns, which feature the best competitive surfers in the entire East Coast. to illustrate the point:

Ana Barend (RI): 1st ladies

Kai Nichols (NH): 5th boys, 4th menehune longboard, 2nd open bodyboard

Lenny Nichols (NH): 3rd legends, 4th legends longboard

Liam O'Regan (RI): 1st open shortboard, 2nd boys, 3rd menehune longboard, winner of "ironman" award

Chad Bruce (MA): 1st junior mens longboard, 2nd open shortboard, 7th junior mens

the list could continue on and on with the amount of new englanders who made finals or placed highly. the northeast surfers are becoming a force to be reckoned with, the east coast should take notice!
